Wild Tronics Parabolic Dish

Unread post by yowiedan »

I have bought a Professional Parabolic Dish from Wild Tronics in America. Been testing it before I go out in the field and it is worth every cent I paid for it. I can even connect it to my video camcorder and every sound from the Parabolic is recorded onto the video. The dish is 55cm wide and it is very light. I have also bought a bar that connects to a tripod and the Parabolic and camcorder etc can be attached to. Then it can be moved around to record video and sounds easily. Pictures below.

Yes, it's a lot bigger than the other one I have been using. The 55cm dish stops noises from behind like a fellow researcher moving. It's a very good directional parabolic. Been testing it while we have been isolation.

Looks like a good piece of kit Dan, if you don't mind me asking, how much did it set you back with the shipping included?
Normally shipping rates from the US are through the roof..

$1800 Australian and then costs 5% customs fee and $280 GST.

That setup looks great Yowiedan, after looking at the photos once again I have just realised how big that Parabolic actually is, its massive.

I have the little black plastic parabolic which works quite well considering. However your new one......I bet it picks up everything.

Hope you catch a howl or two one day. (thumb up)

Dion the dish is 55cm wide. What I like about it is how you can hear a interesting noise and point the dish towards that area and if another known noise is nearby it won't compromise the noise your recording. Very directional piece of equipment.
